Planting Flowers

Princess at Heart

Last night, Tylee was playing in the living room in her PJ's like any other night. All the sudden she left and came back in with her Cinderella outfit on, danced around for a bit, then headed back towards the toy room. Next, she came in as Sleeping Beauty and drug a couple stools in from the kitchen to dance on. A few twists and turns later, she left and in came Tiana. I wasnt even paying attention at this point but a few minutes later she finally came back in with her PJ's back on and casually said,"What's been going on in here? Who made all this mess?"

One night a few weeks ago, I told Tylee that we needed to take pictures for her Valentines. I said, "If you cooperate, this will take 5 minutes and then you can go play. If you run around like a crazy lady, it is going to take all night and you won't have any time to play outside." She didn't want to take pictures, nor did she want to wear the cute striped sweater that I had picked out so I decided to pick my battles. Lo and behold she walked right outside, stood there, looked straight at my camera, and SMILED!

They are pretty posed but were perfect for her Valentine. I cannot believe we are finally to this age! It was a long time coming!

Homeade Playdough

There are tons of Valentine's ideas floating around Pinterest this year and while I wanted to do something a little creative, I didn't want to go overboard. Tylee is just in preschool afterall and I had no idea what her Valentine's party even consisted of...if she even had one. I whipped up a batch of homeade playdough a couple weeks ago and decided that would be the perfect Valentine for her classmates. Here is the recipe we used:

1 C Flour
1 C Water
1/4 C Salt
1 TBSP Vegetable Oil
2 tsp Cream of Tarter
Food Coloring (actual coloring or a kool-aid packet will do)
Sauce Pan and Wooden Spoon
Little helping hands.

I totally copied it from this. I didn't take pictures of the whole process. I just took pictures when I saw something cute happening or when something looked neat. That is what picture taking is all about, right?

Dump all the ingredients in a pan and stir together until its mostly lump free. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly. Stir and stir some more. You'll think its never going to end and then all the sudden, voila! It all comes together and looks like this:
Kneed it until smooth, let it cool, then put in cute little bags tied up with ribbon.
Check on certain 3-year old that is supposed to be napping.
"I know you aren't asleep, Tylee."
And finally, tie Valentines onto ribbon.
Tj does preschool drop-off and pick-up so I have no idea if the Playdough balls were a hit. I am sure the kids loved them but I am probably on a few parents shit-list. Is there really anything worse than Play-dough? There is a reason Tylee only gets to play with it outside when we are camping.

Happy Birthday to me!

Here is a short video (audio clip) of Tylee and I playing Barbies last night. Please ignore my high-pitched Rapunzel voice - its a must when playing Barbies. A quick summary of the video, since I cropped it pretty short: Rapunzel has a chewed up arm (from Merle) and the shark had been chasing her around the room. Tylee is telling Rapunzel that the shark is nice and he was just trying to take her to his house. If you only have a second, listen to the part around 40 seconds - this girl cracks me up!

Oklahoma Aquarium

In our usual last minute fashion, I took the day off on Monday and we took Tylee to the Aquarium in Jenks, OK. We have kinda started a tradition of doing things on a Monday rather than Saturday or Sunday and it always seems to work out great. We were one of the only people there and had free reign of the place.
That, however, didn't really matter because Tylee was scared the entire time. Ugh, its so frustrating! I guess the anticipation of seeing the sharks must've been weighing on her because she was scared of almost everything.
Frightened toddler aside, I had lots of fun taking pictures and being challenged by the crappy lighting, glass, and glares. I was really excited with how some of them turned out. No cute ones of Tylee but some neat ones of the fish!

We had a great day as a family but the place doesn't come highly recommended by me. Its kinda pricey and took us less than an hour to walk through. If it was part of a zoo exhibit (like in Omaha) I would have great things to say about it but on its own, its just okay. I guess our scared toddler may've had something to do with my opinion.
Yah, fun times.
